About the book
This volume presents the compiled Conference Proceedings of the second Valuation 20 (V20) Conference, held on 30th Sept–02nd Oct 2024, organized by IBAPE, Brazil, in collaboration with the Assessors and Registered Valuers Foundation (AaRVF) and the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC).
This book is a compilation of the Conference Proceedings of the First Valuation 20 Conference organized by the Assessors and Registered Valuers Foundation in association with the International Valuation Standards Council on 27th - 29th October 2023. In an era marked by rapid globalization, technological advancement, and evolving regulatory landscapes, the field of valuation stands at a pivotal crossroads. This publication brings together a diverse and insightful collection of papers that explore the multifaceted dimensions of valuation practice across international and local contexts. The contributions reflect the dynamic interplay between theory, practice, and innovation, offering valuable perspectives for academics, practitioners, and policymakers alike.
The first thematic section, "Valuation Standards and Technological Integration," delves into the foundational aspects of valuation methodologies. Papers such as "The Role of International & Local Valuation Standards in Influencing Valuation Practice in Emerging & Establishing Markets" and "The Use of Automated Valuation Models under IVS, RICS and USPAP" examine the evolving frameworks guiding valuation practices. These are complemented by explorations into the transformative potential of modern technologies, including "Role Of Modern Technologies In Enhancing Risk Profile And Valuation Of Construction Projects" and "The Future of Real Estate Valuation: Connecting Automated Valuation Models (AVMs) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Ethical and Scalable Solutions."
The second section, "Cost of Capital and Country Risk in Transnational Assessments," addresses the complexities of financial modeling in a globalized economy. Papers such as "Real Estate Market Return Rate Of SÃO PAULO In 2021" and "Integrating Country Risk Premiums in Valuation Models" provide empirical and methodological insights into adjusting valuation models for regional risk factors. The comparative analysis in "International Cost of Capital Estimation: CAPM versus Arbitrage Pricing Theory" further enriches this discourse.
In "Qualification and Training of Evaluators," the focus shifts to the human capital underpinning valuation accuracy and integrity. The paper "The Importance of Qualification and Training for Valuers: Global Standards vs. Regional Requirements for Valuers Qualifications" underscores the need for harmonized accreditation and continuous professional development.
The section on "Social Interest Valuations" introduces a novel application of valuation techniques beyond traditional asset classes. "Application Of The Analytic Hierarchy Process In Football Player Valuation" exemplifies how structured decision-making tools can be adapted to diverse valuation contexts with a fun aspect.
Finally, "Reliability and Data Acquisition in Global Assessments" is addressed through "Valuation of Railway Track by the Direct Comparative Cost Method," highlighting the critical role of data transparency, methodological rigor, and ethical standards in ensuring credible valuations.
Together, these papers reflect a vibrant and evolving discipline, one that is increasingly interdisciplinary, data-driven, and globally interconnected. It is our hope that this publication will serve as a catalyst for further research, dialogue, and innovation in the field of valuation delivering the V20 mission.
